I was trying to get the sand to melt and fuse. A thin layer of sand appears to have melted but it didn't melt further into the bulk sand. Molted sand may not be conductive enough to absorb the energy directly. |

This is the result of the sand+soda+lime experiment. I can't really tell if any new glass was formed. The glass is stuck to the clay saucer. |
